What is your blog about? If you can’t quickly summarize it by tying it to a subject, then chances are it isn’t focused enough to draw people looking for something specific. You need to dedicate your blog to covering a particular subject, and you need to make sure it has the right keywords so that people can find it.
2: Quality of Your Content
When discussing a blog, quality is about what it offers your viewers. If you write an advice blog, how helpful are the tips you provide, for example? If your blog covers news in the gaming industry, how fresh is your content? Readers will go to the sites that give them what they want, so make sure your blog is serving up quality content that people are interested in.
3: Boring Pictures
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, which is why it’s important to make sure your blog boasts quality images. Breaking up text with regular images makes your content easier to consume, makes it more searchable, and makes it more likely to stop someone’s scrolling on social media. But make sure the images you’re using are exciting, go with the post you’re making, and that they’ll intrigue someone who sees them.
4: No Signal Boosting
If you’re creating blogs, but hoping that search engines will bring traffic straight to your door, then you’re only doing half the work. You need to get out there, and tell people about what you’re making! That means you need to come up with a posting schedule on social media, share your work in appropriate groups, and cultivate a fan base who will, in turn, share your blog with other people.
5: Too Messy
All it takes to make someone walk away from your blog, never to return again, is a difficult-to-read layout. If your site is jammed with links and subject headers, or is too tough to navigate, then they’re going to click back and go somewhere less hostile to their eyes. Make sure your blog has a smooth, intuitive layout that’s easy to browse, and which puts your content up-front.
