Social Media Do’s and Dont’s

 In Digital Marketing, Social Media

Chances are, your business has a social media account. Are you conducting yourself appropriately on social media and using it to full advantage, or are you missing out on many of the opportunities offered by your social media? By following some of these key Do’s and Don’ts, you can use your social media accounts more effectively.

Do: Listen to Your Followers

One of the best things about social media is the fact that it allows you to not only advertise to your followers, but also hear from them. Use your social media accounts to ask questions, then genuinely listen to the answers. Use input from your fans to help you improve your products, the services you offer, and your customer service.

Don’t: Engage in Too Many Different Social Channels

Large businesses can afford to have multiple social media managers to handle many different social media platforms. Small businesses, on the other hand, may have a social media department comprised of one–and it might be you! Pay attention to where you can find your customers and which social media platforms they are most likely to use, then select those platforms for your business.

Do: Have a Posting Strategy

What types of content do you post on your social media accounts? When should your followers expect to see more posts from you? You don’t just want to post at random; instead, create a solid posting strategy that will make it clear what your followers should expect from you. Consistency often makes happier customers who are more likely to buy from your business.

Don’t: Post Information Without Checking Up

There’s something big happening in your industry, and you want to be one of the first to post about it! Before you jump in and start posting, however, make sure you take the time to check your sources. Consistently post accurate, trustworthy information and links for your customers so that they know they can trust you.
